Samantha Dee is a North Carolina solo artist who brings soulful vocals and acoustic guitar to wine bars, breweries, and listening rooms. Her mother’s Mississippi roots and the swampy, jazzy, soulful music her father played helped shape what she calls Magnolia Soul.

My mom is from Mississippi, and the magnolia is Mississippi’s state flower. When I see one, I think of her and where she comes from. I also think of the swampy, jazzy, soulful music my dad played all the time, music with roots that run deep in Mississippi.
Both of my parents had a hand in making me who I am today. The magnolia brings those two parts of my story together in a way that feels like me.
That’s why I feel like I have magnolia soul.
